A tick bite turned me into a bionic woman.
Hear my story.
My name is Meghan Bradshaw.
I’m a tick-borne illness patient & advocate from North Carolina who suffered from years of improper treatment & misdiagnosis. As a result, I have undergone orthopedic surgeries to replace & reconstruct 14 joints in less than two years, with additional surgeries ahead.
These events have earned me the nickname of “The Bionic Woman” in the tick-borne illness community.
I share my story to demonstrate the devastation tick-borne diseases can cause, and I passionately advocate for legislative change to help improve the lives of patients & prevent potentially debilitating health outcomes.
Where To Find Me
I currently serve as a Patient Advisor to the US Department of Health and Human Services Tick-Borne Disease Working Group on the Clinical Presentation & Pathogenesis Subcommittee and am the Director of Advocacy at LymeTV and the Tick JEDI Coalition. I am also a Master of Public Health Candidate at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.
My Story In The Media
“How does a perfectly healthy and active 28-year-old woman quickly change into a bionic woman in less than three years? For Meghan Bradshaw, this became her life.”
